EuroDrive – 2017: 10 days, 6,400 miles, through 15 countries. A tour of Western Europe and a study in geography — observing both the pitfalls and benefits of the EU's open border policy.
Leaving Amsterdam and driving directly to Lisbon over 36 hours, I witnessed the rapid change in flora from a cool and wet north to a dry Mediterranean climate — a nearly perfect analog to the 2016 Lost Coast Drive.
Italy's remote coastal beaches. Tuscan villas enchanted with fireflies. France's vast wheat fields. Most of Europe exists outside the urban hubs typically visited by tourists — driving is the only way to find it.
